About

The Cherokee County Arts Council (CCAC), located in the scenic heart of Western North Carolina, stands as a beacon for the arts, driving creativity and community engagement through a diverse range of programs and initiatives. Central to its mission is the promotion of local artists and the arts within the community, which it accomplishes through several key initiatives, including the Open Studios and the Center Gallery. The Open Studios program is a unique offering that welcomes visitors into the creative spaces of more than 17 working artists from the area. Open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM, it provides a rare opportunity for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike to meet the artists in their work environments, witness the creative process in action, and purchase one-of-a-kind creations directly from the makers. This initiative not only supports the artists financially but also fosters a deeper connection between the creators and the community, enriching the cultural fabric of the region. Complementing the Open Studios, the Center Gallery at the CCAC serves as a dynamic exhibit space that showcases the work of a new featured artist each month. This approach ensures that the gallery remains a vibrant and ever-evolving space, reflecting the diverse and talented artistic community within Cherokee County. By changing out the exhibits on a monthly basis, the Center Gallery offers visitors a fresh and engaging artistic experience with each visit, highlighting the breadth and depth of artistic expression in the area. Together, these programs underscore the Cherokee County Arts Council’s commitment to nurturing and promoting the arts in Western North Carolina. Through its support of local artists and its efforts to connect the community with the arts, the CCAC plays a vital role in enhancing the cultural landscape of the region, making it an essential destination for anyone looking to explore the rich artistic heritage of Western North Carolina.
