We start out at the Scenic Tours & Rentals and head up the mountain to explore 25+ miles of dirt and gravel trails that soar above a mile high. The air feels cool and fresh as we gaze across 30 miles of Smoky Mountain Wilderness. Along the way, we ford streams, view pristine rivers, and take a short hike to view a 100ft tall waterfall. We explore a haunted church established in 1836 during the time of The Trail of Tears and learn of the early Appalachian settlers and Cherokee history legends and lore. Next, we are off to view North Carolina’s only wild Elk herd. Bear, elk, turkey, deer, hawks, owls, and other critters are frequently encountered along the way.
