Come have fun playing with color! No previous experience needed. You will use powdered fiber reactive dyes to add permanent, beautiful color and patterning to your fabric or garment using an ice-dyeing technique. Ice-dyeing produces a character of color blending unique from that of other dying techniques. Any natural fiber can be dyed with this type of dye (cotton, linen, rayon, bamboo as well as silk) with colorfast results. The instructor will provide the dyes & auxiliary chemicals needed and a list of resources. A list of materials for students to bring to class will be provided with paid registration.
NOTE:
This workshop will be held outdoors weather permitting.
When working with powdered dyes it is always necessary to wear a dust mask. It is also a good idea to keep space between students to prevent color contamination.
