Smoky Mountain Host Membership

Smoky Mountain Host of North Carolina has been promoting Tourism in Western North Carolina since 1987.  Smoky Mountain Host is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to supporting and promoting travel and tourism in seven western-most counties of North Carolina. Smoky Mountain Host encourages responsible development of the region's resources to increase tourism spending as an integral component of economic development. Established in 1987, Smoky Mountain Host represents owners and operators of businesses and attractions located in the Southern Mountains of Western North Carolina, home of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Nantahala National Forest and the Cherokee Indian Reservation.

Promotion

Smoky Mountain Host promotes lodging, food, and beverage providers, attractions, resorts and related interests to visitors through a modern visitor's center at the mail portal to the Smokies.

Lobbying

A powerful ally in local government, state legislature, regional organizations and federal government, SMH protects the viability of businesses and channels private and public funding for the advantage of its members and the economic development of the region.

Advocacy

A collective advocate for travel and tourism in the Great Smoky Mountains, spanning west of Asheville to the Tennessee and Georgia borders, SMH has been a persuasive voice speaking out for the people and natural resources of the region since 1987.

An experienced public relations and advertising partner, SMH has a track record of successful value-added co-op advertising and collateral campaigns with effective reader-response programs.

Research

A valuable resource for information, research technical support and talent is provided to help its members achieve collectively what they might otherwise seek on their own.

SMH is a pioneer in the areas of Heritage Tourism and Ecotourism, which promote the responsible development and use of natural and historic resources to improve the lives of people in the Smoky Mountains.
